The first outing.

We had our first show booked for the layout, and in true fashion for all AFOLs (Adult Fans of Lego), we were busy building the night before!

Once everything was done and loaded into the van we go to the venue, took everything up to the room we were in and got busy putting it all together. It took us a little while, but we were happy with how it looked.

We hooked up the trains and put fresh batteries in on the Saturday morning and waited for the show to open. We got loads of feedback on the display and everyone seemed to really like it. The parents (and grandparents) looking at it remembered having some of the sets when they were children, and the children loved watching the trains going round! The simple bright colours really lend themselves to being an awesome display.

We did have some issues with motors during the weekend and ended up with only two functioning trains, one of which was squeaking / growling very angrily.

It gave us a really good idea what needed improvements and what needed fixing!
